Vastly nerdy question, I know. Nonetheless, I would be very grateful if people could tell me what software they use to collect or read RSS feeds, and whether that software is
-Mac or PC
-Free or paid for
-Proprietary or Open Source.
And, if you’d like to say why you went for your final choice, and the good and bad points of that choice as well, life would be just peachy.
In fairness, I ought to say that I use Vienna
-Mac
-Free
-Open Source (not that I’d even know what a source looked like if it bit me on the nose)
And I chose it because Free Stater told me it existed and was free. Its main annoyance is that you can click into the web pages, but then it has no navigation buttons and if you want to go back you have to reopen the original post and retrace your steps.

I use FreeNews (paid sub reqd) on my mobile phone to read web sites and I use Bloglines (free) on my laptop. Over time, I have figured out how to use both quickly to rip through around 110 mobile feeds and 560 laptop feeds.
Another vote for Bloglines here. Free and fast. And any time I try to load my feeds into another reader it crashes…
I use FeedDemon (paid for it) for detailed reading of the feeds I subscribe to. I use Grazr for feed grazing of feeds I’m not inclined to subscribed to (temporal, technorati reading lists, etc).
Bloglines for me too.
I use (free) RSSReader which is lovely and simple to use. Library down the side, and two larger windows – headlines on top and main body of text on bottom.
Tried Feed Reader and the Guardian jobbie, but I didn’t like them at all.
Sorry, mine is a PC. And I have no idea if the code is open or not.
