Danny O'Brien had an article in the newly opened up Irish Times where he dreamed of an EU decentralised by technology so that power was scattered on the four winds to the edges of the Union. Failing that, he admitted, it would be nice if our magic boxes and invisable signals could be used to bring more of the centre to the edge. Well, yesterday I spoke to a German lady who was doing exactly that.
The day before Thursday's vote on the Lisbon Treaty there is a moratorium on reporting to let the electorate consider their position. So, as I'm a voter, I'm going to have a bit of a consider. I've leaned from Yes to No to Yes again over the course of the campaign.

This story hung on the inclusion of two images from the Flickr pool I had set up earlier in the week.
I've seen gigs cause a fuss in my time, but the stir occasioned by the pending shows by the great Tom Waits reminds me of the eighties, when the whole country would scramble for tickets to what might only be only Irish show by a major star that year.

Yesterday, Feargal Keane reported on RTE Radio 1's Drivetime that the Lisbon Refendum Commission were spending large amounts of money on advertising on Facebook and Bebo. Keane described the journalistic reaction to this at the press conference as one of guffawing and barely controlled mirth, which sounds about right. This is why young people in Ireland don't buy newspapers.
