That headline nearly killed me to write. I'll never make a sub-editor. Of more interest than my struggles for brevity is the fact that the Irish Times writer has responded to Kevin's feelings of deja vu, experienced when successively reading the New York Times obit of French Thinkifyer Jean Baudrillard (tips on pronunciation would be welcomed) and Boyd's obit of same for the Irish Times.
Following the controversy over the banning of this Lent's Trocaire ad as 'political' by the BCI, (See, Eoin O'Dell, E. McGarr, VoteTube for details) I thought I'd republish this essay from the McGarr Solicitors site. The short answer is no, by the way.

It seems Brian Boyd from the Times (Irish) has a writing style similar to that of Patricia Cohen of the Times (NY). This post was influenced by Bloggorah and Disillusioned Lefty.

The Irish Times of 22nd February 2007 took 17 pages to get to the Editorials and Letters. Beyond this high tide mark the paper of record breaks down into what may be described as special interest ghettos- Business, Sport, Law Reports, Listing and Classifieds.

An excellent post here by Suzy Byrne, on last week’s coverage of an alleged paedophile ring. I wasn’t really paying much attention to the news for the past few days, so consequently took the story at more or less face value, insofar as I thought of it at all.
It was brought to my attention yesterday that the Sunday Times front page (reproduced as pdf here with permission) ran last week with the story that Gardai have been accessing the information held under Data Retention, without oversight, at a rate of 10,000 queries a year. When the measure was brought in, it was described as being intended to be used for investigating serious crime and terrorist offences.
Tuppenceworth doesn't usually link for the sake of it. But today's short, easy to understand explanation of the consequences of taxing Carbon emissions as opposed to establishing a quota and trade system by Alex Klemm of The Progressive Gardener is a model essay.
